Estimating and Cost Planning

We work closely with contractors bid-teams in the business critical area of estimating expertise. Our estimators all have extensive construction contractor experience to ensure that tender gains are maximised and tender losses are minimised.

We also support asset-owners with cost planning and, benchmarking services. Our cost managers are experienced in delivering as part of an integrated design team, for example using the RIBA Plan of Work.

We follow our clients estimating and cost planning procedures or use our own best practice procedures and templates as required.

Contract Management

We are experienced in providing contract management services across a wide variety of standard forms of construction contract (NEC, JCT, ICE etc).

Our quantity surveyors provide contract administration expertise. This includes services such as measurement and valuation of works, change control / variations and payment certification.

We provide advice on the forms of contract to use for different projects and purposes and also advise on contract secondary options. We are also experienced in contract engrossment, ensuring that the critical contract variables and controls are included in your contract documentation prior to execution.

Both contractors and asset owners have significantly benefitted from our ‘contract close-out’ services. Concluding the contract management processes on projects that are complete can provide significant organisational benefit. This allows the core project team to move on more rapidly or augments your team if project team members have left your organisation.

Our quantity surveyors are highly skilled in undertaking project cost forecasts. We are adept at considering actual cost and forecast costs and performing the internal and external valuations and adjustments required for CVR Reporting.

Disagreements and disputes

Not all projects perform to plan. When this occurs we are ready to provide professional advice to help the parties reconcile any commercial differences.

We provide ‘disagreement services’ when a commercial issue arises and an independent view of both the contract position and a ‘fair and reasonable’ position is required. We work to review both the entitlement to any claim and its associated quantum. Achieving an early settlement to any disagreement can avoiding the cost and business disruption of more formal proceedings.

If a formal dispute does crystalise, we can provide commercial support to adjudication, arbitration or litigation processes.
